Reading through both the launch itinerary and the play style threads I realized that at least a few of us are pretty interested in the crafting system in game. So I was wondering those of you who are interested in crafting, what are your 2 main choices going to be and would you be interested in starting a stockpile so to speak of multi level and multi stat gear for the guild? I know during the final beta weekend I was able to get my tailoring to 75 and create a full set of +healing gear for my elementalist. So I think that we could definitely get a small stockpile of gear going from day 1 (or -3 for headstart lol) so that we all have gear to transition into at higher levels and that fits our playstes better

I plan on being an artificer and jeweler to match my mesmer playstyle. However, I've always valued crafting below leveling, adventuring, and playing through the game with friends. I usually don't use the professions much until my character is at the max level in MMOs. I'll definitely be contributing later on in the game's life to the guild with crafting, but it won't be my first priority.

I think this is a good idea. I was probably gonna do weapon smith and something else (I don't know what yet). To my knowledge it isn't hard to get level appropriate gear but i definitely think it would be to our advantage to be able to acquire gear that will best compliment our particular play style at different levels. Also leveling your crafting gives you a good amount of experience. so I'm in!

That's what I was thinking lol. Between the experience and variation of armor it seemed like my playstyle exactly. I love grouping with friends and guildies but there are a lot of times when I am on and there are very few people online so it seemed perfect. Also I found during the bwe's that you did generally acquire most pieces but he helm was hard toget a lower levels same with weapons with decent stats

I know jack diddley when it comes to crafting! Unfortunately I have been so busy getting distracted with what's around every corner in GW2 that I totally neglected crafting!
I want to do it and plan on doing it but I don't know what in the world I want to do. I guess I need to read up on all the different crafting options!

I've never been big into crafting in previous MMOs but after playing with it a bit during the last BWE and watching youtube vids, I'm very interested. The discovery aspect also looks cool. We'll have to share recipes as we discover them.

Looks like a lot of people don't like crafting. Well I do! And I think I'm going to be a Chef and a Leatherworker mainly, but since you can master all of them and switch back at any time, I'll probably end up doing that eventually haha.

Akires those are my sentiments exactly, minus the cooking lol. I have always despised cooking... Blame wow lol. But I will probably be doing a lot of crafting, and you get exp for it! Hecks yes! I remember eq2 gave tradeskill exp but I mean adventuring experience, how much better can it get?

You should have tried cooking in LOTRO. The cooking wasn't bad , but the actual farming to get your ingredients was mind numbing... Lookomg forward to seeing how cooking is in GW. Think there are any recipes to cook those creepy Asura?

Think there are any recipes to cook those creepy Asura? Heh...I loved farming in LotRO. I'd just go to The Shire and listen to that pleasant music and grow my tobacco. It was nice, but I can see how most people probably wouldn't like it much.

Since i'm starting off with a cloth wearing caster, i figure i'll take tailoring and artificer for starters.

I know for sure I'll be taking one of the armor crafting paths depending on my class (most likely Armorsmith), my main interest being bag crafting. Other than that, I may screw around with cooking or jewelry for accessories to complement my armor crafting.
