Guess I'll craft because I fear the game is going to be dependent on it. Sorry, not a big fan of game crafting, consider it a necessary evil in games that have a crafting system. Looks like huntsman and leather work are going to be the two trades I learn seeing as I am playing a thief. Oh and while I loathe crafting, I don't mind resource gathering in games. I know sort of silly right since the two are joined at the hip. I think it's the money in resources that attracts me to farming them.

I made a poll, maybe seeing what everyone else is doing will help people decide. Afterall I would hate for everyone to be a tailor.

Huntsman and Leatherworker mainly because those two go well with Ranger.

Hello Guildies, I have not had the privilege to talk to most of you and never played this game a lick so please correct all my wrong facts and ignorance after my post . However I am on the "must unlock it all" type of gamer, so plan on maxing out all for every toon, but will start with two each on all five of my characters I plan on making and playing from pre launch on. However, I do love to craft but it comes to me in spurts. I will not craft for weeks at a time then I will spend a weekend doing nothing but that for 7 hours each day lol. So MY Plan is to make sure that I am donating 20% of my weekly take in materials, gold, and such and give it to our Gm Logga or the officers or if any member can just put it in the guild bank for the materials to be used by our guild craft types. I know I would love to have all five of my toons have nice bags at level 3 or 5 or 8 . This way they get their crafting level's up and the guild benefits from being able to have everyone have nice bags, or for the weapon and armor makers have nice things to use. An with the hours I will be playing 20% will help alot and it is something I WANT to do to make this guild fun for all. However, for you beta and stress test players will we have a guild bank? An of so do we have to unlock more room and perks with it. As I know like for example our tome of influence will help the guild, just do not know how..

Probably going tailor/chef initially. Might go with Jeweler instead of cooking though.
For those who are interested I found some decent youtube guides on crafting. Helped me understand the system.

Does GW2 have a mechanism to send mats in your inventory straight to the guild bank?

Does GW2 have a mechanism to send mats in your inventory straight to the guild bank? Yes. Either individual "deposit collectible" on the right. Or choose deposit all collectible from the inventory options.

I will chose my crafting skills depending on the class I play, as of now I have not yet had too much time to read up on crafting but intend to play a thief. Anything that will get me good daggers and armor will likely be the way I go (although I often chose gathering skills first to get me some coin)
