Hello folks,
I know that many already know each other but I am new to these forums and thought I would give a little info about myself.
My name is Gary and I currently live in Ottawa, Canada. I'm 39 years old, married and have one kid (18 months old). I have been gaming since early 80s (obviously console gaming), I like pretty much any type of games aside from the kiddy stuff.
I have high hopes for GW2 and hope I will not be let down like I have been with the release of several other recent MMO releases. My favorite online game experience has to be Neverwinter Nights (I have played countless hours online). I look forward to playing GW2 with all of you and hope for nothing but good times for everyone.
Willard,

I follow in response. My name's Galen, I live down in Pensacola, FL. Been here since I was 3 yrs old. Am married with 3 kiddos (two boys ages 8 and 2, and my daughter is 6) and will 34 this September. Like you, Ive been gaming since the early 80's. I was hooked when my dad introduced me to Combat on our Atari 2600!!! As far as MMO's go, I have the fondest memories and the largest time investments in Ultima Online (played it on release) and Guild Wars (on release as well). I have sub'd and put a fair amount of time into WoW and LOTRO as well but overall they left me with a bad taste in my mouth. In my spare time outside of family, work, and games, I am an avid mountain biker and am part of a locally sponsored team. We have been racing the Alabama MTB Series this season and I've had a blast. Currently Im 2nd for my age category in the series. If I can make the last few races, I may be on the finals podium. Biking is just one of those things I use to stay in shape and keep myself feeling young In GW, I really enjoyed both pve and pvp aspects of the game and can't wait to get sucked into GW2 the same way. As of today, GW2 is officially 1 month away !!! -g

Name is Josh, i was raised in Oklahoma but I live in a small town north of Dallas now. I'm 34. I'm a high school science teacher (so a lot more gaming time in the summers). Married, no kids.
I started gaming on the atari 2600 then the 7800 then started on the Nintendos and stayed with them through the gamecube where I then swapped to the xbox 360. I played a few pc games off and on as I could (depended on if i had a computer that could run games). First mmo was Guildwars. After that went on to World of Warcraft where I found an awesome guild that kept me playing WoW for nearly 6 years. I stopped playing it and swapped to Star Wars The Old Republic. Along the way I played the demo of LOTRO but it wasnt different enough from WoW to keep me hooked and I even played Conan for a little while (before it went free to play).
In my spare time I too am a biker....but my bike is made by Harley Davidson and I don't have to petal. I've been on a few cross country bike trips even met Matt (who I met during GW1) for lunch in Portland Maine one year. Haven't made it to Florida but when I do I expect to have lunch with Galen.
As far as gameplay in GW I've always loved the PVE. PVP is frustrating a lot of times because people exploit the "build of the month" and if you don't have it then you get killed in 2 seconds. But it can still be a lot of fun if you have a group of people you know playing it all together.

My turn, I'm Michael and I'm 42. Live in Tuscaloosa, AL. I got 3 daughters, ages 21, 19, and 14. My youngest plays Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 with me. She has since she was 7. I am retired due to illness. Same illness keeps me from doing a lot of things except online gaming. Don't really want to go into it because we are here to have fun. What I can do is cook. I have been cooking since I was 9. Love to do so. I like to make new recipes when I can. As far as Guild Wars 2, I am out for fun. I don't PvP because I get annoyed with trash talking. Besides PvP is a younger man's game to me. But you can always find me up for a PvE adventure.

My name is Brandon. I live in a small town near Wichita Falls, TX. I'm 32 (for the next month or so), married, and have no children unless you count the doberman. I'm a network administrator at a small hosptial and I'm currently working on a plan that would allow me to play GW2 at work. I like Jeeps. I own a couple and like to go off-roading when the weather is nice. I also enjoy going to the lake. I've been playing PC games for probably 20 years. I like all kinds of games. I played GW1 from around launch, but WoW stole me away after a couple years.

It's cool to see the similarities here. My name is J.J. and I live in SE Texas just outside of Houston. I'm also 34 and a teacher, though I teach elementary school. Married with 2 kids, our daughter is 4 and our son is 9 months old. Summers are great for gaming and it does drop off slightly during the school year for me. "Slightly" being the key word, haha.
In my spare time I enjoy surfing here in Texas (Yes we do get surf here!) and abroad, been enjoying no crowds and warm water on the Gulf Coast since I was a kid.
I'm new to MMOs, LOTRO was my first one a couple of years ago. Actually started a kinship that's very similar to this one that's still going strong. Started WoW and Rift but they didn't keep my interest. Did a trial of GW and I really liked it so when I found out GW2 was coming out I jumped all over it. I look forward to running with you all come August 25!

Hey guys, My name's Charlie and I live in long island NY. I'm 36 with twin 7 year old girls and I'm a CFP. Been playing poker for about 8 years as well. Mainly play the east coast tournaments, but venturing out to Vegas this weekend ( wife thinks it a work conference) I've been playing mmo's for about 7 years starting with GW1 Played WOW, Lotr, SWTOR, but so far I've never seen a game like GW2. Playing the beta was one thing but really enjoying the PVE acspect of the game with a good group of guys (and girls) is what I'm initially excited about and the pvp and WvWvW is gravy. I'm usually on at night and the weekends so if anyone fits those time slots for some initial questing let me know. "Who would have thought in 1989 there would be a game better than Tecmo Bowl!!!"

Well met everyone!
My name is Willie and I am 56 years old. I am married and have one daughter aged 21. She is about to leave for Ireland to do her internship there for her Senior year fall semester. We presently are living in New Jersey. I am a Engineer working in a IT department that takes care of routers, switches, firewalls and etc.
I am a proud veteran and wish to thank any other vet out there for their blood, sweat and tears they gave.
I have been a gamer since....I really do not know. From pen-and-paper, muds, boardgames, mini's to present day. I have played UO, EQ, EQII, AO, AC, DAoC, WoW, LoTR, DDO, DAoC, Rift, SWToR, GW and many other free-to-plays. Then comes the countless PC games. I think my most favorite game of all is XCOM and am oh so waiting for the release of the new one this October.
You got to laugh people cause life is to dang short!

Well met indeed my name is Daniel, and im a Brit that moved to NYC after my MSc, about 12-13 years ago now... the time has gone so fast. I work for a big bank, started in NYC and was located only a few blocks from world trade on the fateful morning... they moved us to NJ and have lived around there since. I now live in PA with my wife, and our newborn son, Jude. Ive been a gamer forever like many here pen and paper, boardgames etc... when i moved to NYC i started playing EQ on launch and met friends that i have kept ever since. We have tried many games since then, but i think EQ will always be "the one". GW2 looks amazing (played the 3 BWEs), and i love the "oh, whats around this corner" game play. There will be probably about 5-6 friends that would also like to join if that is ok? do you have a chat server? cheers Dan

I played in the early stages of EQ2 and when, as a poor 8th grader I couldn't pay for a subscription I got into GW1 and played that until i could afford a WoW subscription lol. Now I am sooooooooo eager to get to Head Start so i can play GW2.

Hey all. Glad to find a group of like minded people that enjoy gaming. I'm married with two kids, so most of my gaming time is in the evening and weekends like most everyone here. Can't wait to get back in the game. Until then, back to Diablo3.

Hi All!
My name is John and I live in Lawrenceville, GA, a suburb of Atlanta. I am married with two pets, a Westie named Gracie and a ragdoll cat ironically named Blue Angel. I am 61 years and proof that you don't really need to grow up if you don't want to!
One year ago I retired after 25 years teaching German and technology in a public high school. I have two degrees in music and am involved in several musical groups in the area, including the Peachtree Symphonic Winds (euphonium) and the Showtime Singers of Atlanta. I recently conducted a performance of the opera "Hansel and Gretel" and can play the German national anthem on the recorder with my nose!
My first rpg was Ultima III and I fell in love with the genre. I have played just about every MMO out there, including about three years each in Everquest and Dark Age of Camelot. I love the atmosphere, storyline, characters, quests and exploration features of a good game. I'm not into high-end raiding and the gear grind required. I like large-group PvP, not so much small group as I'm not good at it and just get frustrated.
It looks like GW2 will be a great game and I look forward to sharing my adventures with friendly companions!

What a wicked variety of gamers we have here! Here goes, my name is Shobal (for real thats whats on my drivers license) Im 24 and I live in Ontario, Canada just an hour south of Toronto. Not used to being one of the younger ones in a group of gamers but I think its awesome and I hope to god Im still gaming in my 50's(ashnak). Ive been a gamer for about as long as i can remember started with my cousins sega genisis and NES and ive played pretty much every console since that. Was introduced to PC gaming when i was about 13 and been hooked ever since! It started with runescape for about 2 years untill i graduated to a proper mmo Lineage2. playing that on a private server was one of the best times i ever had gaming. Then i played WoW on and off for about 6 years, ive also plated LOTRO, DCUO, CoH, SWtoR and now GW2! Cant wait to meet you all in game!

Hail and well met everyone! Jade it's great to have you! I see you've already met our other teachers here! Is your boyfriend interested in GW2 as well or is he sticking with SWTOR? Katie, you may be the youngest on the forums, but you may not end up being the youngest in the guild My son has been playing the betas with me and he is 8. I think GW2 is a tad over his head but is loving it all the same!
