I'm def in and know a lot of others are interested. I know that initially I want to explore the game first for what it is and hopefully we will be setting up times for WvWvW for the guild as a hole. I don't think we are going to be a monster 500 person guild taking keeps by ourselves, but there are so many others aspects to WvWvW to control and maintain that set it apart from any other game.

I played WvWvW in the last stress test. It's a lot of fun, and has that classic WoW AV feeling of joining a massive group of players charging into the fray against an equally large player base. It has a really nice 'epic' feeling to it, and the fact that doing well in this battleground will earn our world tangible temporary rewards AND is a way that one can level their character makes for some high stakes while playing it. I'll definitely be forming some groups to play this with guildies, so expect to see me in the fray quite a bit despite not being the most PvP-oriented of players.

Hah! I can see it now. Smoke & Fire become famous for owning the Lumber Camp. You can break down our fortress walls, but you can never have OUR LUMBER!

Looks like WvW is going initially be 24 hours at a time like the betas and after some time they will go to 2 weeks battles.
Smart idea for us to get a little practice in which is cool, because I may run an alt character just in WvW to level him up.
That alone makes this game so great. You can really have two totally different game plays right off the bat.

You can really have two totally different game plays right off the bat. That's one of my favorite things too. I can hop between leveling my first character through exploration, filling up renown hearts, seeing vistas, doing dynamic events, running dungeons, or WvWvW. Most likely I'm going to try and balance all of those things.

I'm excited for WvW. Something I noticed about it is that like sPvP you get leveled up to 80 upon entering. However, unlike sPvP you don't get full access to all skills / abilities. In WvW you only have access to what you have unlocked thus far in the game. So if you're low level in PvE and don't have openings for utility skills or even high enough to swap weapon sets, you won't have access to them in WvW. Because of this, I will end up waiting to WvW until i have my character a little more established.

For me, this actually incentivizes participation at a low level, as it is a really, really fun way to level on up. I'll probably hop in and out of this giant warground as I level to spice it on up. Maybe when I get tired of renown hearts or dynamic events in a particular area I'll que on up to play. also, one thing to note is that it doesn't take very long to unlock all of one's weapon skills on a particular weapon, meaning you'll have a pretty reasonable arsenal of skills in WvWvW right away. I held my own in the beta weekend against some level 20 plusses as a wee little level 4, which was a nice feeling. However, you are correct about the utility skills and weapons swaps. I'm not sure if I'll be playing like you and waiting until I have access to a bit more before dabbling in this option, or if I'll accept my handicap and fight in it for a fun way to get EXP nonetheless. Either way, anyone who wants to defend the logging camp like Mel Gibson as we planned in another thread is always welcome to join my WvWvW groups. For Borlis Pass!

Putting on the blue face paint and kilt as we speak, What I love is if u bump up in levels too quick in WvW, when u come back to PVE, they automatically lower you to the zone level so u can continue the storyline. So simple, yet genius.

So simple, yet genius. It is great. One big frustration I had with the recent SWTOR MMO was that I prefferred leveling in PvP to leveling in PvE, but after playing PvP for too long the story quests became outdated and boring to play. I eventually became frustrated with the game because I was forced to level in a way I didn't want to (quest) to keep my main story relevant and interesting. I'm happy to see that in GW2 I can level in whatever way I want whenever I want, and I will be spending a LOT of time leveling in WvWvW when I feel like leveling by slaying enemy players. And as always - I expect to do it alongside guildies.

Very true Dano. The leveling up portion of WvW is undeniable! You even get item drops from defeated players! My plan is to stay away but, no doubt, if people are in there hootin' and hollerin' I won't be able to resist! I tend to shy away from pvp in games until I get a good feel for the game itself. I do this with shooters as well. I tend to play them a while and learn the guns, etc before hopping in to multiplay.

WvW is so different than any pvp in the past. There aren't going to be 1v1 or 2v1 fights where u have guys that are geared up and can 1 shot u to death. This is really built around guild teams playing together even more than PVE because it's usually huge groups going after a keep. Plus I can't wait to see Dano charging up front screaming his head off, then seeing 200 guys waiting around the corner and then come back running past us. Lol

I do this with shooters as well. I tend to play them a while and learn the guns, etc before hopping in to multiplay. Normally I'm the same, but with GW2 I've started caring a little less about my skill and a lot more about enjoying myself. I probably won't be doing WvWvW by myself, but if I ask any guildies if they want to throw down a bag of hurt on enemy worlds (trust me, I'll be organizing groups for this stuff ALL the time) and I get some fellow players it'd be a blast to go around killing our enemies together. Not to mention it's going to be at the game's launch, so everyone is going to be new as well. Anyways, I look forward to having a ton of fun with this incredible feature of the game. It really is one of my favorite PvP instances in any game period. And whether we're busting skulls as we ascend to level 80 or slaying our foes at max level when you've gotten your feet wet with PvP it'll be a lot of fun. 4 more days ifoaeniofnewaiofnewaiojfiewzjijawi
