Too bad V, your just missing out... it's loads of fun! However, I agree that it wouldn't be fun to have my account hacked... It really is fun game.

i don't think i'm missing out on anything. the always online DRM can suck a fat one. i would understand its use if the game were a MMORPG, but it's not. i also don't like the idea of a real money auction house. i have a bad feeling many more people are going to get their shit jacked in the coming months and years. it also seems to the RMAH is going to be the only way for your toons to be competitive in the PVE side of things as well as PVP once it goes live.
my old WoW account got hacked and all i was told was to buy another game and make a new account, because there wasn't anything they could really do about it. they didn't want to simply kill the account. it would be a loss of revenue for them. fortunately for me, i had removed much of the contact info from the account before ending my subscription. my old card on file was deactivated long before the account got hacked by somebody or some people.
i've come to a point where i will not support activision-blizzard and some other companies for their business practices. EA is another one whose games i won't touch. even if they're made by bioware. bioware is a ghost of its former self since they were bought by that shitty company. i refuse to touch anything with their logo on it.

Hey guys, Wu Shao got in touch with me over XBL and said he is playing D3! He said he's having computer difficulty and is trying to access our forums from a work computer but is being blocked. He did get D3 successfully installed on it though and asked that you guys add him to your friends list: gopher043@yahoo.com

I seriously need to catch up with you guys. I'll be honest, I was kind of boycotting D3 until they got the latency issues resolved and it appears they've gotten things straightened out. It's been great the last few nights, lag free and very smooth.

So...
Let's talk some D3 build ideas!
I beat Normal mode with my barb and at level 32, I have found an effective build that I am quite enjoying. Dunno, what I should call it... Blood Barbmaybe? Here's the gist of the build:
I am currently using Life on Hit modifiers in rings / amulet / weapons along with Frenzy on my barb to maximize healing with every swing while dual wielding. This works best on bosses and champions. Im supplementing that with Rend and Revenge with their healing rune modifiers to spread mass dmg and gain heling in clumped up groups. To clump groups up, I use Ground Stomp with it's rune to draw enemies in. Other skills are Bash for stuns to complement Ground Stomp and Call of The Ancients for damage output when needed. When not fighting bosses, I swap out Frenzy for Cleave for mass damage and heals to clumped groups.
It makes for an interesting tank build that I straight worked Azmodan on normal mode with. I just stood there in the middle of his AOE and healed myself faster than he could drain me by using frenzy.
Have you guys come across any interesting builds for your characters?

Let's talk some D3 build ideas! Zombie Bears. That's it. No, seriously, that's it. Zombie bears pewpew and everything goes splat. Ok, ok, maybe I have Vision Quest for mana regen along with Soul Harvest for a major boost to damage, but it's primarily zombie bears

So... Morg witnessed my first ragequit on D3 the other night. I got beyond frustrated and felt like I could do nothing right. So I ragequit while I was ahead... err... does that mean I wasn't really ahead and that it had already gotten the best of me!? dunno... who cares. hah.
I got past my slump, I sat down and looked at my build, made some tweaks, and spent some of my hard earned gold in the AH to gear up. One big gripe I have found with D3 is how loot is working in this lvl 30-50 range (nightmare difficulty). I feel forced to use the AH and buy gear to progress in the game because the drops I am getting are consistently for 5-6 levels under me and utterly useless other than selling on the AH for a paltry sum. So it feels like this odd relationship where those a few levels under you are relying on you selling your drops for them on the AH while you purchase items from those 5-6 levels above you for the same effect.
I just wish that this was balanced a little more. Maybe I need to be investing more into smithing to supplement leveling up and smithing my own gear? Not sure if I'm approaching this wrong or what. I guess once I hit Hell, it won't matter as much because I'll be reaching max level. I just know that having to spend time on the AH takes away from the rpg'ness of the game and makes it feel more like a casino gamble vs an actual game you play and progress through...
What are your thoughts on this?

word on the street is the shitty drops are supposed to make you use the auction house to remain competitive within the game itself. the more i read about the complaints/gripes people are having, the more i want to stay the hell away from anything having to do with activision-blizzard. the only way i'll ever play this game is if somebody else actually buys it for me.

I had been doing pretty good on my monk till i caught up to my wizard. Both are at level 46 and do ok against normal mobs, but the instant i see a blue or gold aura around one my only hope to live is a long kite fest. The monk is a little better at surviving than the wizard.
So I did the same thing. I broke down and bought a couple pieces for each from the AH. 2 1h weapons for the monk and a wand and offhand for the wizard. Managed to get them fairly cheap (which will probably mean I will need better ones soon) and they seem to be just enough to get me over the hump.
I agree that most gear drops are below my level, however crafting can be right on except some of that stuff uses SOOO many pages as mats that I run out quickly. Especially if you don't get the stats you're looking for on the first 2-3 tries.

Yah, it's blatantly obvious that Diablo 3 was built to support the Auction House in order make Blizzard more money. The "game" elements of D3 appear to be in place just to function as the hook to get people playing and to try and mask their real motive of making money via their AH. It's like playing a slot machine at the casino.
Case in point. Last night, Im near the end of Act 3 in Nightmare difficulty. My barb is level 48, and I get a level 29 rare drop!? Utterly useless to me or any of my other characters and had no business dropping for me in the first place! What can I do with it? Back out of the game, sell it on the AH and let Blizz take 15% of the gold from the transaction... It just feels dirty...

Hot Off The Press: us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/6262208/Patch_103_Design_Preview-6_6_2012Very comprehensive blog post on Blizz's 1.0.3 patch set to hit this month. Here is an exerpt where they address the very gripe I was just ranting about: The ilvl (item level) of an item determines the statistical budget for its power. The way the game is currently set up in Inferno, Act I drops ilvl 61 gear and below, Act II drops ilvl 62 gear and below, and Act III and IV drop ilvl 63 and below.
Unfortunately this has caused two main issues. The first is players who find an Act too difficult feel compelled to use the auction house in order to progress. The second is that certain classes, skills, and play styles are less gear dependent than others, so although great items are making their way into the game economy, people feel pigeonholed into a handful of viable strategies. For a lot of people they would rather do something frustrating or boring in Hell Act IV (such as having Tyrael fight for them or breaking vases) for a chance at a "top-tier" upgrade, rather than fight hordes of monsters in Inferno Act I.
We’re shifting to a philosophy where the best items in the game can drop from many different places, so a wider variety of play styles are viable. If you would rather chain-pull elite packs in Act I rather than 3 minute cat-and-mouse in Act IV, we'd like you to be able to do that and know you can still find the best items in the game.[/i]

Yeah when u got dc'd I actually didn't. I lagged really bad and when it stopped i was dead, but i stayed connected. I warped back to town to wait on you, but then I noticed that my entire friends list was offline and figured it must've been the server and not just you. Slowly people popped back online. I swapped over to my monk and then Razor joined me till I got too tired to play.

I can see selling stuff and then using your battle.net money you earned to buy items, but to shell out $200 for an in game item is ....ridiculous!
But with the luck (or lack thereof mainly) i've had with selling stuff on the gold ah, i'm probably not even going to bother trying the real money ah.
