Hahaha a fan of Mass Effect maybe? I knew I had heard that name from somewhere! I played the first and second Mass Effect and while I enjoyed them a great deal I've never played the third one, nor have I been a huge fan of the series. Fun games, just not quite my cup of tea. I think the reason I've been saying asari is because of a combination of already hearing the name in Mass Effect, and also because my brain combines 'asura' and 'sylvari' into one. But anyways, definitely asura for me. I love their lore, and I like playing one of the more unique races in the game. It was a tough call choosing between human and asura for me, though. But I saw that we already have a human-like (Norn) mesmer and figured if I went asura we could both be special little mesmer snowflakes with our own race.

I'll probably give it a try eventually, but at the moment I'm too busy with losing my mind over anticipation for GW2. 12 more days!!! Also, on a race-related topic, I am contemplating rolling a human mesmer after all. I don't know why, for some reason I see the small asura characters as making better elementalists, and I don't want to have an asura mesmer AND elementalist. I guess I have some thinking to do before launch... did anyone happen to check out the Asura starting area in beta? How would you say it stacks up to the human's place of origin?

I'll have 3 asura. I normally play dwarf but clearly not an option here. I have been enjoying the little guys, especially the background banter and heart/story quests. Also Felicia day does the voice for a main character... Good times The asura zone is pretty good, like I said the quests are a big draw personally. The human area has a great typical fantasy mmo style to it and some areas look stunning. The quests there though seem uninspired, but I didnt do too many, so could easily change.

I haven't seen their environment yet, so it'll be more fresh for me. Also, human seems to be pretty popular, and I'll want to play one of the lesser-played classes in the game.

Ya the human (and Asura) starting areas are gonna be sooooo busy on the 25th/28th lol. And I agree with Orion the Asura starting area is quite fun and interesting and they have a lot more personality than the other races, you should roll Asura!

I'll definitely be doing that, then. I've heard nothing but good things about the Asura starting area.

I have to go with the Charr. I've always been so captivated by the culture and attitude they boast since Prophecies. They are comparable to the Orcs of Warcraft, the only difference being that they don't look like the Incredible Hulk. I love how well crafted this beast race is and how ferocious and primal they can be. Makes me want to tap into my inner badass.

I take back my asura-ness! I gave the sylvari and asura a test run on this last stress test and determined that, for the profession of mesmer, I would prefer a sylvari to an asura. I'll have to save my asura character for a different profession.

I will probably play a Human. I usually gravitate to weirder races like dwarfs and trolls, but there isn't really an "odd" class that grabs my interested. I'm a big norse mythology guy, but the Norn don't quite feel right in that mold. I may make a Charr Mesmer "pimp" at some time too. DEFINITELY not playing Asura. Those guys creep the bejeezus out of me!!

Hey, don't let me find two chairs to stand on and have my asura slap that Norn smile off your face. Funny thing is, I am 6'6 265 and look like a Norn, but I really like the quick mobility of those little bastards. Plus once one of my daughters saw them, I promised I would play it

Glad to see that NCSoft was able to snag her talents for GW2.

Sorry don't have link at the mo

We all need to make an Asura and run them together on opening day. Would be hilarious to see a horde of them kicking butt.

I'm truly amazed that so many people want to play a human. FYI, results from a reddit poll with ~5600 responses: ( www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/x3cmj/classrace_poll/) Race by popularity: Human, Asura, Sylvari, Norn, Charr Profession by popularity: Warrior, Guardian, Elementalist, Engineer, Thief, Ranger, Mesmer, Necro

I'm envisioning a horde of Yoda's moving from event to event, demolishing the target mobs within seconds, while the spectators stare slack-jawed in astonishment.
