The servers will actually be up 3 hours earlier than announced, thanks to the information from this source: www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-final-countdown-guild-wars-2-launch-times/"The three-day Headstart Access will officially begin at 0:00 AM Pacific time (GMT -7:00) on August 25th. However, please note that in order to ensure that we’re fully prepared for that fateful hour we may bring servers online up to 3 hours prior." So yeah, that's 11 PM CST and 12 AM EST. It's gonna be a loooong night.

Smart move by ArenaNet. They're trying to decrease the load of players logging on at the same time so there isn't a ton of problems trying to log in.

It's gonna be a loooong night. I probably won't be able to get much sleep leading up to the time of launch anyway, I'll be too excited checking my computer for updates over and over again. Hopefully I'll get in the second I'm able to. As with any launch experience though, I'm cautiously optimistic about what time I'm going to get to start mesmer-ing up the Asura starting zone.

Well, I vowed to not partake in another stress test, but me thinks Im going to go ahead and spend some time practicing in the character creator and take screenshots to remember them by... That's exactly what I've decided to do. I'm evening screen capping a lot of the sliders and color choices I make so for each race so I know exactly what I want when the game launches. I find myself bored if I know that my characters are going to be wiped anyway, so I'm going to take my time with fine details today.

I actually snapped several screenshots during the opening sequence for each race. I love the animated abstract art! I put a bunch of them in a folder and use it as the wallpaper for my pc.

GW2's drawn artstyle is great. It has a gritty hand drawn look with little tiny splotches of what look like ink slathered all over it. Almost like a fantasy artist drew the pictures and then went, "This needs a little grime, time to spill some ink." It complements the in-game graphics really well, too. And even on the lowest settings the game looks fantastic. This game seems to be like WoW in that it has an art style that looks great regardless of computer quality. It's fantastic!

Damn u stress test. U gave me too much time to try out the thief and the engineer. Still sticking with the elementalist but I may have to run 4 alts at once somehow. Danomeon, as u continue ure never ending search for all things GW2, see if someone has developed a crack yet to play 4 at once and switch on the fly.

Danomeon, as u continue ure never ending search for all things GW2, see if someone has developed a crack yet to play 4 at once and switch on the fly. I wish. The thief is way too awesome with the double pistols. I almost considered dropping mesmer to play it as my main, but then I went back to mesmer and realized how great it was. I think it's easy to see which class is clearly the most fun in the game though. I haven't whittled it down to just one class yet, but I know the most fun to play is either the warrior, guardian, thief, ranger, mesmer, necromancer, elementalist, or engineer. One of those. hello...my name is Jade - I am an alt-aholic. *crowd* Hi Jade. I know I'm going to be one too. My experiences with all of the classes have been fun. Originally I was going to play engineer, then elementalist. I finally decided I like the mesmer best, but today I discovered my love for the thief. I'm sticking with mesmer as my first pick, but I know I'll definitely be playing a wide variety of character classes in this game.

hello...my name is Jade - I am an alt-aholic. The room echoes to the sounds of a drawled out "hello Jade" ...I shall be creating at least 3 asura... I'm thinking of doing 1 alt of each race first, so my first 5 cover all of the race bases. Here's what I'm thinkin... -Sylvari Mesmer -Human Thief -Asura Elementalist -Norn Guardian -Charr Warrior Whuddya think?

Heh, as much as I love the Asura, there are some things that they don't work out as. I can't stand seeing the little guys being melee characters, I feel like the larger classes would be more powerful with the swinging of the weapons. Instead, I like to see Asura as the little guys who use intellect to overcome challenges. So instead of stabby rogues or hammery warriors and guardians, I prefer them for thinking-based classes like the elementalist and engineer. They didn't work for me as mesmers because I prefer my mesmer being a tall but scrawny 'trickster' type character, almost like the joker from batman. Not to mention I like my illusions to mean business, and tiny asura illusions just wouldn't do the trick for me. That being said, I will definitely be selecting Asura for elementalist or engineer. Or maybe both, if I make one of each race and still haven't used one of the two on a different race. For now, I'm not so sure.

alas..i will probably never play the asura ...i have a think about playing short toons - i just cant do it. Never could roll a hobbit I dig short toons who are spell casters. I think there's something almost poetic about a small little guy who can slay the biggest of monsters with only his intellect. It's a nice contrast to the huge buff fellas with massive weapons that beat everything to death. I can understand your viewpoint, though: as much as I love tiny spellcasters, I never can bring myself to pick the 'pipsqueak' class in most games. Gnomes in WoW, hobbits in LOTRO, I just can't do 'em. Asura is going to be my first exception because I love this game so much I just HAVE to level up one class of each race. I don't know why, I think it's the completionist in me. And i think the Asura lore is really neat.

Sylvari memsers are nice. I know I really enjoyed the one i played last Beta weekend. Got him up to 17 or 18 i think. Entangling roots (racial skill) + chaos storm = awesome aoe dmg.
