All,
We are always accepting new members that are looking for a mature, casual, and tight-knit gaming community!
Obviously, Guild Wars 2 is not out yet, so in the meantime if you could sign up for these forums, share a little about yourself and give us an opportunity to get to know you that would be fantastic!
You will find that we are a friendly bunch that look forward to meeting you!
Peace, -logga

Hail and well met friend! We definitely fit the cirteria you are looking for! As you will see form reading these forums, we will likely have a lot in common.
We're a real easy bunch to get along with and our only requirement is that mates are easy going. We don't take ourselves too seriously, love to help each other out, and like playing online games for the fun of it. We have found, much like yourself, that being married, having kids, having a full time career, etc etc fill our lives with more than enough drama and the last place we want more drama is in our video games! Right!? Hahaha!
Thus Smoke & Fire was born. If I remember correctly, the main idea that banded us together 7 years ago was the frustration we always found with other guilds taking themselves too seriously and who required ridiculous time commitments. We found that all kind of silly and SaF was kind of our own way giving them the finger, if you will.
So, it's great to have you and thanks for the taking the time to come get to know us! Currently, we're mainly just playing Diablo 3 while we bide our time for GW2. Several of us are involved in the BWE's for GW2 so we are in withdrawal mode at the moment after binging all weekend on it.
Have you had a chance to participate in the beta weekends at all?

Hello everyone! From what I've seen around the forum you seem like the kind of guild I've been looking for. I love gaming and GW was definitely my first 'MMORPG love'. From what I've seen of GW2 (and playing BWEs!) it promises to be amazing, and I feel like it's time to join a guild with the same overall outlook as I do. Basically, I'm just looking for a fun loving community to explore this amazing game with!

Excellent! Well, you are definitely in good company!
Dunno about everyone else but I can definitely say that I've been in withdrawals all week!
We'll keep communications up and open as more BWE's get announced. We've been sending out emails ahead of time keeping everyone up to date so we can coordinate.
Look forward to seeing you in game and glad you found us!

Hola, peeps
Me: So, my bad-ass grandma showed me Phantasy Star, the original, and I was pretty much lost to games forever. I direct and edit video for a living, in news, so I definitely need a place to chill out and have fun.
My now-wife got me interested in WoW a few months before Wrath through Cataclysm - Scarvo on Thorium Brotherhood, if you're curious. We were one of the top six guilds on our server and when I was done, I WAS DONE! Obligation is no reason to play a game!
We went cold turkey on MMOs (minus a brief dalliance with Rift) until Star Wars. I was suuuper excited, and I still think their ideas are really awesome for MMOs... but passed guild leadership on when it stopped holding my attention (May).
All of the guilds we've joined or created have had a "family vibe" to them. No pressure, fun guild events (even in person, whoaa), humor.
As you can already tell, I am super chatty, and am likely to keep the guild chat occupied while I'm on. I have little tolerance for people trolling fellow guildies, and no tolerance for bashing types of folks - if your crew likes that, let me know and I'll move on, no worries. That said, I love Cards against Humanity. ;)
I've been crazy about GW2 ever since I realized that they scratch that itch that WoW and SWToR never did - having some impact upon the world at large! I've never played in a BWE, but I will absolutely be there for the next one. I've watched videos and read blogs, and it can't come soon enough!
Just because I remember the days of l33t h4ck3rd0m doesn't mean I am a fan of abbrevs. Except that one.
What do you ye think, am I about your speed? Have you picked a server?

Hail and well met Sken! You sound like a great fit to the Smoke & Fire !!! You'll no doubt find a lot in common with all of us, the least of which is us being excited about GW2. We met and founded Smoke & Fire in the original Guild Wars so are obviously stoked for August 28th.
As you'll learn we're no stranger to other mmo's. I haven't played anything of any lasting amount of time since the Lich King expansion, and by that time WoW had run its course with me and I didn't even finish it. A few guys here are still subbing to WoW i believe. I started playing a lot of console games with my kids and got hooked on Battlefield Bad Company 2 (after they were in bed of course ;D). I played that as my main game for a long time.
Currently, during the beta, we chose the Borlis Pass server to play on. I am hoping that Anet will release a final launch server list so that we can make a decision before launch on our final destination. Worse case, we stick with Borlis Pass I reckon?

Hello everyone,
I just found your guild recruitment on GW2 guru and thought I'd ping you here.
I have been playing Gw1 since 2007 and I have loved every moment. I have beat most everything in W1 and my hall is 36/50. I don't do subscription games except for the 6 months that I played SW:TOR. I love to PvE primarily and more recently I have enjoyed GW2's WvW.
I am an Adult player with a family and job and a house that constantly needs something fixed or replaced. I am in the eastern time zone and I usually put in most of my gaming on Friday or Saturday nights after the family has went to bed.
I come from a small (4 people) guild in GW1 and I'm looking for a larger(50+) guild to join so that there is no issue connecting with other players. I do enjoy helping out my fellow guild members, but there are many times when the real world takes precedence so please don't expect me to play on any given time interval. I play when I can and I will help out when I can.
I'm not tryin' to sound like a jerk, but I have seen "hardcore" guilds that expect a certain level of participation out of members (i.e. raid once a week). I am a family man and have my priorities in order, but I want to be able to relax once a week and just game when it is convenient.
Couple of questions: 1.) What time zone are most members in? 2.) What is your expected member size for GW2? 3.) Do I sound crazy?
Thanks, Sparafucile

Spara, it's good to meet you! I can guarantee you that we will never impose any sort of playtime requirement. Like, you, most of us are family guys (I myself have 3 kids and 2 houses !?). Real life is busy enough and we look to games like Guild Wars to be a way to relieve stress.
We don't impose ridiculous rules, we just are always looking for likeminded guildies who are tired of what "hardcore" guilds offer and their strict rules.
On to your questions: 1.) Most of us are in Eastern and Central timezones but we have some in Pacific as well. 2.) We don't have a limit, large or small for SaF. We will continue to welcome new members that fit our laid back values and playstyle. If they continue to find us, we will continue to welcome them. 3.) You don't sound crazy at all. You sound similar to us in that you have grown tired of the ever-growing population of self-righteous guilds out there and want a break from that norm. To that, I say you found the right place!
Thanks for letting us know a bit about you. I hope you stick around and hopefully we'll see you in the beta this weekend!

Welcome Recurve! I'm glad you found us and hope you stick around!
Same you, Jen and Jack! This is definitely the right guild for anyone not interested in making time commitments to a game. Games lose all the magic the moment you feel obligated or forced to play them.
That said, I will probably be playing A LOT because I won't be able to help myself !!!

Hey all!
I found the recruitment thread on Guru about a week ago, made an account and then promptly got distracted and haven't gotten around to posting until now. Apologies!
My first introduction to MMO's was in the form of Star Wars Galaxies back when it just came out. One of my fondest memories from then was squill hunting out of Anchorhead. Imagine groups of 20+ players (newbies, veterans and everything in between) running haphazardly around the desert and hunting the 2nd most powerful creature on the planet with no tanks, aggro flying everywhere and all of this amidst general screaming and melee. In other words, very similar to your average dynamic event.
I'm pretty quiet and laid back, and can occasionally be quite silly. I seem to be younger than most here at the tender age of 22, and am currently going through college.
Despite the sometimes ridiculous amounts of time I can sink into gaming when I don't have either work or school, there's no way I could be considered a "hardcore" gamer. And the leisurely, "no-stress" feel of GW2 is something I find extremely attractive.
What I'm mostly looking for in a guild is just a laid back group of people to play with and maybe make some new friends, and you guys seem like an awesome bunch to hang out with. Unfortunately due to some family obligations I won't be able to play in BWE3, and I hope that's not going to be a problem. Definitely gonna be there for launch though!
Looking forward to getting to know the various personalities here. Make sure you guys all have fun this weekend for me!

I represent 3 PvErs who are seeking a guild like yours. We were a small guild in Prophecies but we don't want the hardships that come with having a small guild. We are laid back casual gamers who don't take this game too seriously. We are not ones for PvP but take a lets see what happens if we do this approach. In Guild Wars 2 we have been on the Henge of Denravi home server but can change to which ever one your guild chooses to use. We are known in game as Zypher Wynn, Rowan Natura, and Vanessa Darkheart.
